Join Canyon Road Contemporary Art for its 2024 season of art exhibitions, Mark Bowles. and Ali Rouse. Each artist meditates on time in their own medium and their own mind. The gallery will host an artist reception on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 5 – 7pm.  The exhibition runs September 13 – 22, 2024.

Time is a constant preoccupation and the changes in time a lifelong fascination for Mark Bowles. For decades, the artist has explored the concept of time and the changing landscape with complex rhythms in layers of color. His minimalistic approach downplays the literal landscape while elevating the spiritual concept of what the landscape means to the soul. In this exhibition, Bowles brings his contemplation of Time toward the future, as he seeks to understand how the future will impact and evolve the “scapes” of our souls and lands.

Ali Rouse brings a fresh new beauty to old materials. She combines luxurious precious, semiprecious stones, handmade Bali Sterling silver and glass seed beads on the skulls of noble animals to create an impressive, signature style of art. Few artists are creating anything remotely like Ali’s work, with its fabulous combination of beautiful patterns and extraordinary bold presence. The animal form, often with large, gorgeous horns, serves as the frame housing the intricate details of her designs. Each animal offers unique opportunities and possibilities, which Ali interprets as angular and symmetrical, or abstracted, simulating movement in the geometric composition.
